Utah - Our first overnight at a Casino (Ute Reservation)

The drive north towards Salt Lake City was beautiful and we drove through several Reservations. Our first stop was at a truckstop and upon leaving I was able to pull over and buy fresh pinion nuts from an older gentleman. So yummy. At the next Reservation we tried to hunt down Fry Bread but sadly the one location selling it had no area for us to pull over in. Fitting 65 feet is at times a challenge indeed 😉.

However, we did locate a small casino where we were able to park and have coffee and cake. I tried to feed a stray dog there as well but it was to skittish. Now the best part of our driving day yesterday was that we found an RV Park in the Ute Reservation close to the Four Corners. The Ute Mountain Casino had not just a truck-stop but also the Sleeping Ute RV Park. They accepted either Good Sam or Passport America but the later hit the best discount and we only payed $22 for the night. The pull thru’s were all 60 feet long so we stuck out about 2 to 3 feet each in the front and back but we were told it was okay. Lucky us!

The campground was very nice with lots of trees and supposedly an indoor pool and sauna but that was under construction. However the casino was a short walk away so had we stayed an extra night as my husband offered we could have used the amenities there. I would have liked to stay a extra night as well but my worry is that our progress to Idaho might slow down soon due to the messy weather the north is predicting. So I want to push on for now. Which was a good choice as todays weather was showing us. But that will be in tomorrows blog…..
