We explored another Harvest Host this week and this time we did not get to eat or drink but we were reminded how darn old we are getting.
We arrived at the Pioneer Auto Museum in Murdo, SD on Friday the 12th 2023 and after checking in and getting assigned a space to park we had lunch and a nap. Since the Museum is still on winter hours it closed at 3 pm instead of 5 pm so we missed it. But lucky us they opened at 9 am and we didn’t have to leave until 3 pm.
Now this museum did not just have cars and motor vehicles but toys, games, clothing, household items etc etc.
It was established in 1953 and has seemed to collect items since then and is still adding more. It is one if the main attractions in this area next to the town 1880, which was used as a backdrop in the movie ‘Dancing with Wolves’.
Anyway, why I walked away from feeling darn old was due to seeing items that I recognized in using growing up. Pinball Machines, TV’s, Computers, toys…..
Goodness one knows they are entering dangerous territory when identifying with Museum items. It’s like hearing your favorite music in a grocery store or elevator…..
Never less it was a fun stop over and I even got to chitchat with lots of locals at the small grocery store there. Thanks to Apple Maps which showed a grocery store 1 mile away marked as ‘Permanently Closed’. I had some questionable encounters lately with my maps app so I challenged it and drove to the store. Well, it was NOT closed but open and quiet busy. I bought a few supplies and then at checkout I showed the employee what my maps app was saying. She in return called everyone over, including the owner of the store and they were all amazed. I guess the store has always been open and they did not understand. Well, I didn’t either. So much for trusting technology again. Maybe I should have gone back to the museum and bought an old phone book and map 😂
