Texas - Almost Ready To Leave JBSA

These last couple of days were very busy as we had to to do some prep work to get Lou ready to be hooked up and bring her over to be with us in our campground spot.

Ron finished in getting the new tie downs into Lou and on Tuesday we had a practice run in closing up Lucy and moving her to hook up Lou. I admit I was very anxious about this process as it was only the second time we hooked her up and I figured it would take a lot of trial and error to get it done. Another worry to me was the part of Lou being a bit boxed in in the storage area.

I am thrilled to say that both worries were brushed away by Ron maneuvering Lucy so very well that the hook up took less then 5 min. He lined her up perfectly with just about 3 inches from the hitch. Then it took Ron maybe 10 min to get our 63 foot train turned around and out of the storage facility and moved over to the campground.

There I got to give Lou a little wash as she still had some muddy muddy remnants from Colorado and with the generosity from our neighbors from Pennsylvania Ron was able to finish the tie downs as he gave us some self driving screws that we needed. Honestly, we met and talked to more people in the four weeks we have been there then I had in probably they whole last year. I don’t mean as in FB or phone/txt, but in person conversations. The neighbors we got after the Minnesota couple left are from Pennsylvanian and are very nice, they humored the antics of little Oliver and we used to joke about their love for 80’s music each evening.

Oh and Ron and I also met another very fascinating couple. About 2 weeks ago (maybe less then that) a large A-Class Motorhome with an enclosed trailer moved into the campground. Being the curious soul I am I wanted to get a closer look as I love seeing Motorhomes that are part of the Big Rig Community. So what I found out is it belonged to a very fun and adventurous young couple from New York City, and in the trailer they carried  two Harleys. I beyond loved this, young and on the move to explore North America. We exchanged phone numbers so we could send travel recommendations to each other, after all they had to learn how to move in their setup through a crowded East Coast.

Honestly in the four weeks we are out here now we have not met anyone we did not like. There is something about the spirit of fellow travelers that is just a happier disposition. I love that part so much.

So anyway, today we are going to head south to the Gulf Coast. We are aiming for Magnolia Beach by Port Lavaca. I made a checklist for our departure and I will find

out how well I do in getting everything locked up and stored away for the three hour trip.

I should be getting getting back with you in the next couple of days but another part of us boondocking is that I won’t be sure how well we will be connected via wifi or through Verizon.
