The countdown is on for us in hitting the road again. Our last day here on JBSA Lackland FamCamp is on the 7th. We have to do some modifications on Lou, our trailer, to get new tie downs in to hold Rosalina. I also want to get her washed a bit as she still shows some muddy residue from us leaving Colorado.
So within the next 6 days we need to get Lucy prepped as well. Sitting here for 3 weeks made me get a bit to comfortable as in all the overflow items that I could not find room for in Lucy ending up in my supposed ‘basement’, translating in putting things underneath Lucy in the gravel. So if I can’t fit things then I might have a give away some items here in the campground 😂 My own version of goodwill will be me trying to hunt down fellow campers begging them to take our stuff…..
I also have been spending lots of time in trying to plan our next move. It is a tad challenging as we would like to free roam which means no booking things or being nailed down for specific dates. We are purposely unplugging from this way of life. However, we are, by a mile, not the only RVers out there plus summer is approaching which means places are booked and full by humans that love to plan. Darn, some places sell out 1 to 2 years in advance! So I said it before we are going to make boondocking our way of life. At least we will try to go that way.
Boondocking means we will be self reliant and are not going somewhere to hook up to. You go to public land, BLM, national forest etc etc. You stay for a week or two, depending on the rules and how long your RV can sustain itself as in water and power. There will still be the option of State Parks that often have partial hookup but those can get very crowded plus often don’t support many big rigs which we are considered.
So our plan is to head to the beaches in Texas next, there are several locations that allow free camping along the coast and we will try to find a spot along there. This of course means Lucy has to be fully stocked to give us a week or two to spend there. Full on water, full on gas and electric, empty on the grey and black water tanks. Food and drinks for a while as well…… we are excited and ready to try this out. New scenery is just around the corner ♥️
Oh and we did find ourselves a very yummy Mexican restaurant. The food was wonderful and the only downside was no alcohol was served so I had a Mexican Coca Cola which I do like a lot.
