North Carolina - Riverside Campground
After leaving my beloved Outer Banks we decided to make slowly work our way south the coast towards our goal of Augusta GA for Thanksgiving.
I found (not on any popular apps but via Google search) a nice unassuming family campground in Belhaven NC on the River. One could only make reservations via phone and pay via cash or check. I admit I love those off the beaten path campgrounds and old family run ones are my favorite. Sadly they are slowly disappearing as many get bought up by big corporations which means higher prices and a loss of community. But that’s just my 10 cents 😉
We arrived and were given a nice spot right by the river and the boat ramp. We were facing west so we had incredible sunsets for the two nights we spend there.
We loved it as it was quiet and we were able to catch up on office work plus be entertained by the many boats that went in the water every morning and came out every afternoon. I think this morning I counted 30.
I can recommend this area if you like ti just relax or if you love to fish. What I did not like learning is that there are Alligators 🐊 and 36 different species of snakes 🐍.
This translated in me not taking the dogs for any walks close to the water.
the water.
