Maine ❤️ Serendipity - Not For The Faint Of Heart
The way Ron and I approach our lifestyle will seem absolutely insane and stressful to many. For us however it is a kind of the fuel that pushes us forward and makes for the greatest, unplanned adventures.
One thing we learned in our life is that one can indeed plan and book away, but all can fall apart within days of the event. Sickness, accidents, weather etc etc. So in our layout we don't expect anything and only book 1 week out.
On our Maine trip and pretty much our way east it has been a tad more challenging as some areas we want to stay at are fully booked up. So what did we do? We abided our time inland of Maine which is very beautiful in its own way and we hovered until school is starting up in most places. The next most beneficial breakthrough came when I realized what a gift Chambers of Commerce and Visitors Centers are.
I wanted to explore Eastport, Maine for many reasons and on all the RV Apps it showed two Campgrounds. Both looked beautiful, right on the ocean but both are not equipped to handle 65’ feet. Even after we told them we can park the trailer separate it was a no go. So not to despair, I found a beautiful campground on Lake Keenes in Calais, ME. A 30 min drive to Eastport.
Since I told myself I would venture to the Visitor Center wherever we are I headed there on day 2. It was an incredible success. Not only did she point out a few great hikes but handed me a postcard for Harris Point Shore Cabin & Motel. I never heard of them and it never showed up on my many campground apps. So today I called them and I am thrilled to say that:
1. They have 4 RV spots with hookup
2. They can fit Lucy and have separate parking for Lou
3. They have a spot available for one week for us!
Now I know I have no reviews to look back on so we will feel like explorers but then this is how we have been rolling for the last 18 months.
