Maine ❤️ Ginny & Paul Kent’s Hill & Echo Lake ❤️

Maine ❤️ Ginny & Paul Kent’s Hill & Echo Lake  ❤️

Our friends place here at Echo Lake by Kent’s Hill in Maine is in one word: Peaceful.

We love the serenity, peace and quiet. Yes I give some credit to this place on the map but to be honest it is the people here that make it all so very special and unique and peaceful.

Ginny and Paul are Maine! The history of this state runs deep in their geneology and I learned to really feel and understand a place. One needs to have someone that is from here and doesn't mind letting you in.

We went to pick Apples at an orchard which is just a bit down the road. When we encountered the owner and he learned that Ginny’s Uncle used to own the orchard he told her our apples would be free to us.

Everywhere we have gone with them, from exploring, to here at their summer home on the lake, I felt of being ‘home’. We never were strangers, as in an unexplained way they were family from the moment we met. How else could I wrap my mind around that we met this couple in Eastport for about 2 hours and just 2 weeks later parked in their driveway spending a week with them? We have lunches and dinners together. We sit and talk, or play Farkle. We are kindred souls that met and just knew.

All this is only possible because of our lifestyle as it be so very unlikely of this to happen had we still our home in Colorado. Just think, you are on vacation in Maine and meet some people you feel drawn to but you both are heading in different directions to get home. In our old life we traveled but there always was a plane to catch to get home to and our animals, plus a house that needed care. Now our home and babies are always with us and hence we are in charge of when or where we point towards.

We rode out Hurricane Lee together which showed a little wind and rain. We went swimming and took a fun boat ride around Echo Lake which is 6 miles long and has several elite summer camps on its shore. Steven Spielbergs kid as well as Will Smiths son spend summers up here supposedly. We went to the Farmington Fair where I was thrilled to meet face to face with a friend from Facebook! How wonderful this was to actually after all these years sit an talk in person was an incredible gift. Thank you Jon Small for coming out to see us.

I also got to watch Pauls Cousin and wife perform, Ken & Jane Brooks. A multi-award winning duo who are members of the Maine Country Music Hall of Fame. They perform vintage acoustic music - Folk, Bluegrass, Gospel & Classic Country. So say I was in awe of them would be an understatement. They are incredible and I was having a most wonderful time. I wish it could have gone on and on…..

Ah, and this brings me to another person I met, thanks to Ginny and Paul. Their Echo Lake Family/Neighbor Terry (sp). What an incredible human that one could listen to for hours on end. Pure Love is what comes to mind. Feisty, highly intelligent and the kind of friend every one wishes to have by their side. I am thrilled to know Paul and Ginny are at the center and are loved by so many.

Today we got to help getting a dock out of the lake. All around people are closing their summer homes down to prep for winter.

I said it so many times but with my core I can say Maine is one of the greatest States when it comes to scenery and people. A magical place that is able to keep pure thank to its harsh winters! If it's winters were milder it would be horrid as then outsiders be coming in and would take over something that is just plain perfect the way it is.

So our week here with Ginny and Paul will come to an end on Tuesday when we will aim South before heading East towards Indiana.

The Hour Class keeps running and one can only store the memories in our hearts.

From all the times my heart was broken or hurt and I thought it was only holding on by shreds at times, I found in our travels an antidote. Beautiful souls that project love, are like patches. I think I might compare it to a Quilt 😉❤️ A patchwork of hope and kindness. Oh and might I say I am learning that those of us who have been hurt  and are in great pain seem to project love the most? Makes one think.
