Maine ❤️ Wilson Memorial Chapel

Maine ❤️ Wilson Memorial Chapel

I reached out to the local Boothbay Harbor FB group and asked what are some highlights that can be seen by car or within short walks. Ron has been dealing with more and more pain so walking, especially steps are very challenging and painful for him.

I have to say since we got to Maine, locals in their Facebook Groups are so friendly and helpful. Definitely a great resource to connect with locals and find out what is happening. Of course the Visitor Center and even Museums are great resources.

One recommendation was driving out to Ocean Point to see a lighthouse as well as Wilson Memorial Chapel. It was just a 20 min drive from the campground and the closer and closer we got to the ocean the more the fog moved in.

Now I love me some foggy days! They bring me comfort and peace but for sightseeing it kind of caused a challenge 😂

The Chapel was build in 1917 by Reverent Wilson in memories of his wife. Both loved the area and used to summer in Boothbay since 1894. Ron tried himself on the pulpit preaching and I tried singing some Christmas songs. I think we both failed 😉

The ocean was covered in rolling fog so no lighthouse was to be seen. I wonder now how far their lights reach in this weather?
