Colorado- Boulder Fairgrounds in Longmont, CO

We are now on day 7 out of our 9 days here at the Fairgrounds in Longmont. It has been truly a good setup for us to recharge and spend some time relaxing and working on ‘stuff’.

The campground is fairly simple as in it providing water and electric to our site but the dump station is separate. It costs $25 a night and the bathhouse is nice and clean. When we arrived here the ranger told me to try out the showers as he says they have great water pressure and never run out of hot water, paranoid me went to my husband and asked if I looked or smelled bad since the ranger recommend a shower to me? 😂. So never less we tried it out and he was right on with amazing water pressure and endless hot water. So our Lucy caught a break and I got a long long long shower in. 😉

The one negative is that the spots are tightly lined up together so you can pretty much reach out and touch your neighbor. Lucky us we have good neighbors again. We met a very adventures, fun couple on day 2 here who are true gypsies as in traveling all over and boondocking most of it. It amazes me the free spirits you meet out here on the road.

One can only stay here for up to 14 days in one calendar year. So once we leave we could come back for 5 more days but that’s it however.

Location of this campground is also very good. You are at the foot of the Rockies with Estes Park being 45 min away. The Fairgrounds by itself have lots of activities going on each week. Since we have been here there was a Pottery exhibition and sale, Barrel Racing Competition, a Bridge (card game competition), Farmers market and some Park Ranger Driving school to watch.

However the best part is the access to a Nature Preserve for the pups and me. We just have to walk out the back gate and we have several ponds as well as a river with miles and miles of trails to walk through. A lot of birdwatching is going on here and you can see photographers lined up each evening trying to get pictures of the bird of preys being active here. I am saying several ducklings have been on its menu recently.

So we have two more night here and then it’s back to CSprings as Lucy has a date with Transwest on Friday to get a new awning put on. So Thursday to Friday we will just pull of by the Hotel again and then depending how long it takes them to work on Lucy we aim for a new campground we want to try out.
