Sitting here in a snowed in and cold Colorado Campground does not really play into how I pictured our gypsy life initially. It seems that even after we stepped into this life that there are engagements and schedules one has to keep.
We are and have been stuck in Colorado for three reasons. The biggest one is of course us not wanting to miss seeing our oldest son graduate on June 1. The second reason is that Ron has and had some doctor appointments these past month. Third but not last, of course, are our repairs we need to get done on Lucy and Lou. Lucy has been on an extreme slow burner with the Insurance adjusters moving fairly smoothly but the collision repair place being at a slower then slow pace. First the insurance and the repair place had to agree to a cost factor. I think they settled on around $17,000. Of that the parts only cost $3,400 but of course the labor cost is the real factor. We were also told it will take 8 to 10 weeks to get the ordered parts shipped to Colorado. Honestly getting anything done in regards to repairs is painful and slow, like pulling teeth indeed.
Lou, our trailer, turns out to be the easier fix it seems as the adjuster totaled her, as in not fixable. So she will be picked up this coming week and we will be without a trailer for the next 10 to 12 weeks. This is due to how long it takes for us to get a new trailer. What in hell is it with everything taking 2 to 3 months?
So after Connor graduates we will be heading to Texas, which makes sense as it will be the hottest time to visit Texas, June and July! (Sarcasm there)
Joking aside we gladly spend that time in Texas as we get to help out Niki who needs a Housesitter for about 2 weeks. She has been nothing but helping us out so we are not complaining on helping her out of course. She even got us one month booked at the Fort Sam Houston Campground which is not easy usually to get into as it has very good ratings and is by reservation only. In comparison Lackland FamCamp is First Come First Serve. However we do have to spend one week with them as well before Fort Sam Houston opens up thanks to the Snow Birds leaving for the North. So the big benefit of going in the opposite direction that others are moving means we have an easier time finding campgrounds 😂
So right now we are waiting and watching the snow melt around us. Ron got to build three snowmen and I got to watch drinking hot chocolate.
Lucy has been a trooper in keeping us warm and we have been sleeping rather well.
I am going to do a blog post next where I will rate the campgrounds we stayed at so far so I can look back and keep track later on as of course my memory can be pretty fuzzy at times.
