Florida - Kate, Naples And The Everglades

It was a return for me to a place I used to play in 30 years ago, and it was a meet up between Ron and his wonderful friend from the time they were in there late teens.

I absolutely loved meeting Kate who is a most incredible women. Beautiful and her intelligence wields a lot of power and demands respect. I beyond loved our conversations. I also loved seeing Ron and her reconnect.

Funny that when we get older it is still a lot of fun seeing new places but meeting up with people from our past life’s as well as meeting new people is the greatest treasure in our journey.

We had a very yummy dinner at Kate’s home and we also went out to eat at the Black Forest Restaurant. Would you have asked me if I be eating German food in Naples I would have told you that be crazy. But that’s what we ended up doing. The experience was a good one. The food was good but the service was wonderful. Perfectly timed and attentive without ever feeling rushed.

We explored Marco Island and went to the Tigertail Beach. While beautiful I was attacked by some kind of biting bugs which I am still dealing with.

We also ventured out to the Everglades and took an airboat tour plus got to play with some Alligators. We took our tour with Corey Billie’s Airboat Rides, a Native American that owns quite a few acres nestled between the state parks to the right left of him. It was upsetting to learn how the government tries to push him out as they would love nothing more but for him to sell his land to them. This I admit was one reason why we took a tour with his outfit. If anyone should have the right to honor that land and area it’s the natives. They live with the land and not against it.

The question hence is who can we trust to do a better job of this?

Then we finished this outing with a yummy lunch at the Havana Cafe in Chokoloskee, FL. Amazing food and service plus the scenery! Absolutely lovely.

As to us meeting the Alligators we got an eye opening education from Pat. Pat has worked with Alligators for many years and who would have known they would trust a human and work with him? The bliss on their faces when he rubbed them was nothing I ever seen. They leaned in on him and put all their trust in him. There are humans out there that have an incredible gift in connecting with animals that us ‘normal’ humans have a hard time comprehending. We loved it.

All in all our 4 nights at the Napolion Cove RV Resort was great. We were on the go alot but the owner was very friendly and a nice pool was available but I found no downtime to use it.
