The Sun Outdoors Resort in Florida was a place we have never experienced before. A true Resort that offered more than one could possibly participate in. There was Tennis, Pickle Ball, Lawn Bowling, Boca, miniature golf, Shuffle Board, Frisbee Golf, outoor pool with two spas, a restaurant and bar that provided life music, Karaoke and Bingo Nights. Then the full equipped Fitness Center. This one had an Olympic sized indoor pool, a spa, sauna, Steam Room and Ice Bath. Weights, Elipticals, rowers and bikes. There was Joga and other classes offered.
I know for a fact I am missing things but the list goes on as there is a spa that offers massages and facials plus acupuncture. There are several building hosting art events or even woodworking. One needed a bike or car to get around but most zoomed around in golf carts which I learned is a lost of fun and easy to break traffic laws with.
We spend a total of 11 nights here and I barely made a scratch. Part of it is I loved spending time with our friends so we had nice dinners and explored some of Sarasota. But I did use both pools several times as my love for swimming drew me there frequently.
We had a pull thru that accommodated Lucy Lou perfectly. Q24 at 90’ was wonderful with room for Rosalina and the dog yard.
We learned many here buy a yearly property or spot and stay for 9 months and then travel for three. This is for tax purposes. I can see the attraction.
It was sad to say goodby but the West was calling us as we are not finished yet of course. But great memories were made ♥️
Oh and I did visit the Ringling Museum and the Ca’ d’Zan (House of John) Villa.
The villa was impressive but the opulence of it all was something else. Not a house I would have felt at home with but indeed of the style of the roaring 20’s before the stock market crash. Neither Maple or John lived in the house (seasonal) very long before both passed away and ending up in debt when the Great Depression hit. The estate went to the State of Florida who spend 3 years in court fighting of debtors who wanted a piece.
Now the Circus Museum was a different matter to me. I grew up loving the circus and the memories the displays brought back was magical, nostalgic and at times a bit sad for what has been lost. Today’s youth have no idea what magic happened when the circus arrived in town. No movie in a theater will ever compare, nor a musical or theater play. It was a total immersion in sound, feel, taste and smell and too that of with incredible artists it was unbeatable.
