Good evening.
It is the 1st of March and it is only two days to our launching Lucy. The last week was supper busy trying to pack things up and prepping for the movers to arrive. That alone was quiet a nightmare. The movers were suppose to come on Friday, and they made it as far as the bottom of our driveway. Then they claimed our driveway was to snowy, even thought I had plowed it the day prior and UPS, FEDEX as well as friends came and drove up to the house. Ron volunteered to drive it up but was denied due to insurance reasons. So that left is without movers. It then took several days of phone calls for Ron with the Brokers to finally find us another moving team which was set for today, 2 days to spare and it was nerve racking as by now we worried they might claim to not make it up the hill as well.
So all I can say is that we were thrilled to see two young men show up at the house by 8 am who were super friendly from the get go. Both had a strong accent and it fascinated me hearing them talk as I thought I could pick up some words but couldn’t pin point it. Ron finally asked them and they were both hesitating to answer but finally said ‘Russian’. This of course drew Ron and I in right away since we did realize this is why we understood some words. I had fun practicing some of my few words of Russian. Ron and I wondered if they had been initially shy due to what is happening with Russia. Of course I know what that feels like as it wasn’t very popular not long ago announcing one is German.
Back to the move, both men worked harder then anything Ron and I have seen in a long time. All they took from what we offered was Pepsi. They packed up our home and fit it all in a 26 foot truck and it took them from 8 am to 4 pm. The hardest part were the exercise equipment. We were in awe. They had amazing work ethic, were sweet and polite and we had fun conversations with them.
So today was a busy day but it was also a good day.
